Why EQUANS
At EQUANS, we are constantly looking for new talents to strengthen our Tribe and offer a complete service to our customers thanks to your technical expertise.
Together with our teams, we look for solutions to the challenges of today and tomorrow within in the 3 major transitions of today: the energy transition, the industrial transition and the digital transition.

Jens believes!
Jens Hoornaert: “As a wind farm technician, I take part in coordinating the construction of new offshore substations for wind farms at sea, from the first sketch to the last screw. A substation can be considered as the heart of a wind farm. All the wind turbines’ cables are routed to the substation and the electricity is converted by large transformers, and then delivered on land where it is connected to the grid. It’s fascinating and stimulating work without a doubt! Today, our offshore wind turbines produce 10% of Belgian energy. There is still a lot of potential for expansion and we can certainly double the capacity. At EQUANS, we are fully committed to doing so. I believe!”
Noordelijn is ready to roll!
It took nearly four years and nine months to complete the gigantic infrastructure project. Noorderlijn, from the name of the tram line that today connects the centre of Antwerp with the north of the city, was completed in December 2020. It’s a matter of pride for the TramContractors consortium of which EQUANS is part!
François Gillain, Senior Project Manager at EQUANS, talks about it:
“Our teams were responsible for all the technical and electromechanical installations. From building the catenary system for the new tram lines to installing the five traction substations and a fibre optic communication network, via the technical installations for the new underground car park and for the tunnel under Place Opera and Place Roosevelt. For this project, we involved no fewer than 30 engineers, eight site managers, 50 technicians and many subcontractors. The result? More fluid mobility, increased safety and better quality of life in the city centre! And two new tram lines the maintenance of which will be carried out by EQUANS until 2044. 😉”

Optimising the comfort of the Möbius Towers
EQUANS is participating in the construction of two new towers in Brussels that will house smart, high-performance and sustainable workspaces while increasing the comfort of their future occupants. In this project, the greening of the buildings is a core component in which EQUANS plays an important role. Discover the new technologies put in place by EQUANS in this construction project that reduce the energy consumption of the new towers and increase their energy efficiency.
There are no shortage of growth opportunities!
Rob Lacroix, who has a master’s degree in electronics, has been working at EQUANS for four years. Given his passion for sailing, surfing and swimming, he feels completely at ease as a Project Manager at EQUANS, in the Water department, in Aartselaar, which comprises a hundred employees. “With seven other colleagues, I am responsible for a certain number of projects and calls for tender up to their delivery. I also supervise the engineering and finance department. On a project, we always take care of the electromechanics component.” Examples of renovation or new construction projects include moveable bridges such as London bridge and Mexico Bridge in Antwerp, as well as the Zandvliet and Berendrecht locks in the Port of Antwerp.
Training
Rob is very satisfied with the opportunities he gets at EQUANS. “We are not in the lions’ den. It is thanks to training that I had the opportunity to reach my current position. First I was a Project Coordinator and then I became a Project Manager.” In recent years, Rob has undertaken various training courses. “If you are ambitious, EQUANS Academy offers countless training opportunities. I have taken a course in financial management and another in people management, in which an emphasis was placed on communication in the workplace.” The pleasant working environment is an important added value for Rob. “You are not just a number at EQUANS. Even though we are part of a large Group, our department feels like an SME. The atmosphere is really friendly! In recent years, I have built a good network within the company, which is always positive for my career development at EQUANS.”
